Overseas Missions

Ms. Clara Biswas works with the ‘poorest of the poor’ in slum areas and garbage dumps to facilitate their move to relocation and rehabilitation centers. She describes her mission work as follows: sharing the love of God, helping children obtain an education by opportunities to study through scholarship, improving living conditions by providing vocational training, providing medical care and financial support to the ill and with education creating awareness on human trafficking, human rights and domestic violence. She is certainly doing the work of Jesus Christ and we feel very fortunate to able to help her as she helps others. We will have an address for Ms. Biswas, and we are asking that individuals, groups or classes write letters of thanks and encouragement to her. We are hoping that at some time in the future she may able to come to the church and tell us personally about her work.  However, she has not been back to the U.S. since 2005, so we have no timetable on when this might take place. Any updates and correspondences that we have concerning this mission will be posted on the Missions bulletin board located in the Sunday School wing.

Growing Food for God's People

News you can use!

I thank God for each and every one of you who has supported the garden through your prayers, your donations, knowledge, and hard work in heat and cold!   The fellowship together and friendships we have formed have been rewarding to all of us!  Knowing that we are providing nutritious, fresh food to people who often get the leftovers is a huge blessing.  In small ways, we are changing the world as Christ has asked us to.  This quote jumped out at me this week:

"Do not underestimate the power of one. A single, solitary life like George Bailey's or yours or mine has been endowed with our Creator with tremendous, world changing power." - The Rev. Bass Mitchell, in a sermon at Epiphany UMC in Vienna on the 1946 movie "It's a Wonderful Life."

The weather outside is frosty, but its not stopping us! Join us tomorrow one last time before Christmas - Tuesday 1-2:30. John will till and we will continue weeding/tidying up the front area.

God bless you this Christmas and in the year ahead!

Operation Christmas Child

Thank You, Nimmo Family! Because of your generous support we were able to deliver 56 beautiful Christmas boxes filled with small gifts to the Samaritan's Purse drop-off station this week. They will add a book with the Christmas Story and transport these to needy children around the world. We were also able to provide the $392 of postage. Please continue to pray for these boxes and the power of these simple gifts and the story of God's love to open the hearts of children to the love of Jesus Christ. Thank you.

Support the Troops

We meet on the third Saturday of the month at the Sullivan House to prepare items for shipment. Meeting times are from 10:00AM to 11:00AM.

Christmas Care packages are on their way to troops overseas. Please continue supporting them with your prayers. There is no meeting this month but meetings will resume on Saturday January 21st
